Less Waste

We have decided to take measures to reduce our waste and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Now that spring is coming, we can start buying many more fresh foods and stop buying so many pre-packaged foods. It’s not like we eat many TV dinner like foods, but the more fresh foods we eat, the less waste we will create, so we’re going to try to accomplish 2 goals at once.

I think one of the most beneficial things to do to get started, is eliminate plastics that cannot be recycled. I no longer want to contribute to petroleum production of plastics if it cannot be recycled. Eventually, I’d like to eliminate all plastic use, especially after finding out about the 2 giant plastic islands in the ocean. Just because I recycle a plastic item, doesn’t necessarily mean that the new product made after recycling will also be recycled by someone. If I use no plastic then it’s ultimately better.

Now we are striving to eat more organic, natural products without so many additives, preservatives and junk. We’re not perfect and we’re not snobs. We will sometimes eat bad food that we know has junk in it, but we are striving to better ourselves a little at a time. This blog is going to be about the different ways we eat and live healthier and some of the interesting facts that we find out about foods and junk around us.
